The Internet revolution

Below is a summary of the Internet Annual Report published by Reporters Without Borders.

The Internet revolution has made it harder for dictators to monitor the movements of their citizens. However, some countries are rising to the challenge and following China's model of Internet regulation until about two years ago, when the discontent felt could not be clamped down any further. However, this has not stopped governments from throwing bloggers, and other cyber-dissidents in jail and censorship of the Internet is growing in many countries, blocking the freedom of speech that the Internet was supposed to bring.
